More About Varanida
When you use Varanida to block ads while browsing the Internet, you get rewarded with VAD (Verified Ad) tokens, which will become the currency of Varanida's digital ecosystem. You also earn extra VAD if you refer someone else who installs the Varanida extension, so if you like the extension, tell a friend!
NOTE: The big power button in the extension allows you to permanently disable/enable Varanida for the current web site only, and is not a global on/off button. To disable the extension, you must turn it off in your browser's Extensions menu.
***
The Varanida extension is more than just an "ad blocker", since it can also read and create filters from hosts files. When you first install Varanida, the following lists of filters are loaded and enforced by default:
- EasyList
- Peter Lowe’s Ad Server List
- EasyPrivacy
- Malware Domains
If you would like to add additional filters, these lists are available for you to select:
- Fanboy’s Enhanced Tracking List
- Dan Pollock’s Hosts File
- Hphosts’s Ad and Tracking Servers
- MVPS HOSTS
- Spam404
- Many More
Keep in mind, the more filters you enable, the more memory the extension is going to use. But, even with extra filters added, Varanida is still going to have a lower memory footprint than most other popular ad blockers.
Also keep in mind that some of these additional filters may increase your chance of having issues with the behavior of certain websites, and especially the lists which are normally used as a hosts file. If you're not an advanced user, be careful with what filters you include, and remember that you can turn off the extension on an individual site if you experience any critical issues.
