More About Google Input Tools

Google Input Tools Chrome OS extension makes it easy to enter text in your desired language on ChromeOS. Limitations: Note that this extension is only for Chrome OS. Chrome OS version >= 23 is required for the installation. Introduction: This Chrome OS extension provides input methods (transliterations) for 19 langugages, including Amharic, Bengali, Greek, Persian, Gujarati, Hindi, Hebrew, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Tigrinya and Urdu. The major differences between this Chrome OS extension and Google Input Tools Chrome extension (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-input-tools-by-goo/mclkkofklkfljcocdinagocijmpgbhab?hl=en) are: ✓ It works with the address bar (omnibox), in addition to all input areas in web pages. ✓ It provides offline support. It is workable regardless the network connection. ✓ It does not include handwriting input and virtual keyboards currently. Usage Instructions: After you install the extension on your chromebook, click on any icon at the bottom right of the screen. Click on the current keyboard/input method in the popup menu. A list of new input methods, e.g., हिंदी(Hindi), has been added. They are transltierations provided by the extension. Click on the translteration you want. To use transliteration, type languages phonetically in English letters, and they'll appear in their correct alphabet. Keep in mind that transliteration is different from translation; the sound of the words is converted from one alphabet to the other, not the meaning. For example, to get in नमस्ते with Hindi transliteration, type in n-a-m-a-s-t-e. You will get a list of Hindi words sound like namaste. Then, press SPACE or ENTER to select the first suggestion नमस्ते. Need help? Find a problem?
