More About Avatars for Google Meet

Use these live avatars to liven up your Google Meet or Hangout calls. This free chrome extension, based on the Pose Animator open source project (https://github.com/yemount/pose-animator), allows you to attend a video call as one of several avatars.

* Avatars to choose from include a cartoon woman, man, and a very large owl.

* Avatars will mimic your head, neck, and mouth movements.

* Avatars can also mimic your entire body if you enable Track Body under Experimental Features. Note: This is more resource intensive, so you should only enable this if you are using a very fast computer. You may also want to stand back so that your body is in view of the camera.

* Privacy focused: All processing happens locally in your browser. This chrome extension does not send or receive any external data.

Instructions:
1. Install the chrome extension by clicking the “Add to Chrome” button.
2. Go to meet.google.com or hangouts.google.com and start or join a video call.
3. Wait up to 20 seconds at the beginning of the call while the avatar loads and initializes. You’ll see the background loaded, but no avatar during this time.
4. Use the menu at the top left of your screen to select a different avatar, or uncheck AvatarOnOff to turn off the avatar.

Troubleshooting:
* If the avatar appears, but isn't tracking your head or body correctly, try repositioning yourself or your laptop camera.
* If you have installed other webcam effects software or chrome extensions, you may need to temporarily disable them for this extension to work.

Please reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback.
