More About Link Preview

Link Preview by tldr.io gives you super powers to tame the Web. Read less and learn more thanks to human written summaries and beautiful previews of Web pages without ever leaving the page you're on.

With Link Preview display previews from Wikipedia Articles, Twitter profiles, Youtube videos... And more and more services are going to be supported!

HOW TO USE

Hover over a Wikipedia, Twitter or Youtube link to display a preview.

When a human written summary exists for the web page you're currently browsing, the extension displays a green "tldr" button. Click it to display the summary.

When the summary doesn't exist, the "tldr" button will be red. Click it to contribute your summary.

On certain websites such as Hacker News (http://news.ycombinator.com), links that point to pages that have been summarized will be decorated with a little grey "tldr" button. Hover over it with your mouse so that you can display the summary of the linked page without even leaving the front page. This allows you to pick exactly which links you want to click to read further and keep the number of tabs you open under control.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER tl;dr EXTENSIONS?

Our summaries are voluntarily contributed by PEOPLE, they're not auto-generated by an algorithm. This makes for super high quality summaries.

WHY DO PEOPLE CONTRIBUTE SUMMARIES?

Once a summary is contributed, anyone can read it. Our contributors are people who love the Web and want to make it faster and easier for other people to discover and read about things that matter to them.

Also, summarizing what you read, listen to, or watch is a great way to build up your memory, clarify your thoughts on a topic and make sure you don't forget it as soon as you move on to the next thing.

WHY DO WE REQUIRE THESE PERMISSIONS?

We ask for access to your browsing activity in order to check for the existence of summaries of the pages you browse. However we don't store your browsing history anywhere. We also have a list of sites that we don't check, such as Facebook, Gmail, and other private sites where summaries don't make sense.
