More About Gumshoe

Gumshoe records website login credentials whenever it gets the chance, storing them securely in offline local storage to be reviewed and manipulated by the user (and only the user) at a later time. It is an open-source utility created a long time ago with no particular intentions in one direction or the other; the utility can be used maliciously by malicious users, and it can be used for legitimate purposes by users with legitimate intentions. See the source on GitHub for more information and to verify that it's not sending your login details to some remote server (can also verify based on extension's permissions... either way, you should always make sure there's nothing fishy going on before you install this sort of thing). # GETTING STARTED Once you have installed Gumshoe, open a tab for Facebook or something and type `gselog` in one of the login fields. Fields that prevent default behavior of text/password input elements will not always work, hence its ceased functionality on the Google search box. `gselog` is just the default passcode used on first launch to access record management; it may be changed on the record management page. If it doesn't work in the Facebook login box when you type `gselog` the first time, try opening a fresh tab or restarting Chrome. There will be an update Soon™ so this doesn't suck as much. Stay tuned, I guess.
