More About Golden View for Google+

=== SUMMARY ===
Golden View for Google+ is a Chrome extension allows you to Mute / Unmute specific users.

=== THE AUTHOR ===
Find me, Micah Wittman, on Google+ at my profile:

=== GOLDEN VIEW APPS / OTHER SCRIPTS ===

===

NEW! => Golden View Popup Link Keeper https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lefcihjmmjnjcgkpjdbjjiajadajgffd

"Save in-page links (to Pocket, aka Read It Later), see popup of saved links inline in Twitter, Google+, Friendfeed & Google Search"

===

=== MODULES (Features) ===

To enable / disable individual features (module) go to:
Wrench icon > Tools > Extensions > Golden View > Options

== USER MUTE ==
Mutes all posts by specific users. Click MUTE USER link next to the Public/Limited status. Once muted, a placeholder for each post appears with {User Name} UNMUTE, which if clicked will stop muting that particular user.

Shared posts where the originator is muted also get muted and in the placeholder appears: (MUTED SHARE – SEE ORIGINAL POSTER TO UNMUTE). Clicking SEE ORIGINAL POSTER TO UNMUTE takes you to the originator’s profile where you can UNMUTE them.

=====
=====
SPECIAL NOTE:

FEATURES BELOW HAVE BEEN RETIRED INDEFINITELY DUE TO GOOGLE+ CHANGES THAT MAKE THE FEATURE REDUNDANT OR DIFFICULT TO MAKE COMPATIBLE - APOLOGIES FOR ANY OF THESE FEATURES THAT WILL STILL BE MISSED.

=====
=====

== DEFAULT CIRCLE ==
Adds a star next to each circle stream name. The star can be clicked to set or unset one circle stream as your default. When a default is set, going to the Stream view (which is an aggregate of all your circles) you automatically get redirected to your default stream.

Effectively, you can make one of your circles as the new everything you want to see by default based on one circle not all circles.

== HIDE COMMENTS ==
Adds a Hide Comments or Show Comments link on each post; this feature is sticky (the hidden or shown state is recorded in the browser’s local storage).

Go to Extensions > Golden View > Options for the following options:
- Hide Comments - Enable - Show by Default
- Hide Comments - Enable - Hide by Default
- Disable

Hide by Default hides all comments by default (as opposed to comments being visible by default using the standard option).

== HIDE IMAGES ==
Adds a button under each Google Plus post image to hide it (toggle show / hide). Hides the image on original post and all shared posts. Tired of an animated GIF that keeps getting shared over and over in different posts? – hide it once an forget about it.

NOTE: If Hide Images doesn't seem to be enabled, go into the Golden View Options and click the radio button under "Hide Image" called "Enable - Show by Default". The other two options are to hide by default and disable hide images module completely.

== SEARCH WITH GOOGLE ==
Add a link/button to toggle the built-in search input Find People with another option: Search Google Plus with the Google search engine using the "site:" filter.

Click TOGGLE SEARCH TYPE link to toggle between Find People and Search with Google.

## Change Log

### Version 1.37

- Fixed for Google+ change. User Mute link restored.

### Version 1.36

- Fixed for Google+ change. User Mute link now appears again.

### Version 1.35

- Fixed for recent Google+ changes. User Mute now working again. Also fixed post edit mode problem.

### Version 1.34

- Google's recent system changes broke all features. User Mute now fixed. Hide Images and Hide Comments are no longer active and are retired indefinitely.

- Google's UI refresh on April 11, 2012 (aka Operation '#whitespace') broke most functionality. Modules: User Mute, Hide Images, and Hide Comments have been restored. Modules Search with Google and Default Circle are not operational and suspended indefinitely. Fixed. FIX

### Version 1.32

- Search with Google - Google+ search input ID changed which made the TOGGLE SEARCH TYPE link disappear. Fixed. FIX

### Version 1.31

- Default Circle redirect was not triggering. Fixed, and clicking Stream itself (just like UNSET star) now unsets the current default circle. FIX

### Version 1.30

- Default Circle star alignments fixed. Was uneven and disappearing off left margin. Updated bundled CSS map. FIX

### Version 1.29

- Bandwidth efficiency enhancement: The auto-remapping (self-healing) system now checks a remote file that contains only date string timestamp and based on that requests the full CSS map resource if needed. NEW
- Added the following crowd-sourced language translations (for User Mute UI): nb-NO [Norsk bokmål (Norway)], and de-D [Deutsch (Deutschland)].

### Version 1.28

- Fixed Hide Images module. FIX
- Tweaked Hide Comments back to blue link. FIX
- Updated local mapping resource file to current version. UPDATE

### Version 1.26

- Chrome having XMLHttpRequest/origin problems with an SSL connection for mapping resource. Switched to HTTP request. FIX

### Version 1.25

- Robustness update so Golden View can weather Google+ upgrades, which sometimes interrupt normal extension functioning, better. NEW
- New URL access permission needed (goldenview.wittman.org/*) so Google+ classname mappings can be updated automatically to keep extension working within minutes of a Google+ breaking change. What does this mean? It means if the extension stops working when Google updates the sight design, Golden View can be restored to working condition automatically in an hour or less in most cases (a big improvement from the previous delay of hours or days). NEW

### Version 1.24

- Yes, another set of changes rolled-out by Google. All modules needed updating and are now fixed. FIX

### Version 1.23

- Hide Comments - Fixed display of OLD COMMENTS, comment editor active detection, and scroll-to-plus-1 upon hide comments click. FIX
- Hide Images - Fixed position of SHOW/HIDE button so it floats below the image instead of next to it as it did in some cases. FIX

### Version 1.22

- A new set of changes rolled-out by Google. All modules needed updating and are now fixed. FIX

### Version 1.21

- Hide Comments - fixed problem where in some circumstance comment hiding wasn't functioning correctly. FIX

### Version 1.20

- Yet another set of DOM tree changes made by Google in the last 12 hours which require adjustments. All modules needed updating and are now fixed. FIX

### Version 1.19

- User Mute - 3rd-party [G+Me]- User Mute - 3rd-party [G+Me](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/oacdcllhgpddmlnhajiacfakhlilbicp) extension compatibility update. MUTE USER appearance is now restored in Stream and Circles. FIX
- User Mute - G+Me presence detected and accommodated so a MUTE USER link get removed per post when in G+Me collapsed mode. UPDATE

### Version 1.18

- User Mute - Missing MUTE USER link in the Stream view (mixed reports have come in). I haven't been able to replicate the issue (on latest stable Chromes on OS X and WinXP) but may be subtle difference in effective Javascript interpreter runtime behaviour. A key jQuery selector was changed to a simpler approach which may eliminate the bug. FIX

### Version 1.17

- Default Circle - stars were appearing in stream view but not circle views. FIX
- Hide Images - minor visual adjustment of camera icon background on hover. FIX

### Version 1.16

- Changes made today by Google introduced breaking DOM tree changes. All modules needed updating and are now fixed. FIX

### Version 1.15

- Recent change by Google required an adjustment to detect the user's name and the post ID. User Mute now fully functional again. FIX

### Version 1.14

- Star images replaced with transparency versions for better meshing with background. Thanks goes to extension user John (theiconmaster.com) for fixing the images. FIX

### Version 1.13

- Circle Default module - removed underline style seen while a star was hovered. UPDATE

### Version 1.12

Credit and special thanks goes to Matt Mastracci for his excellent [Replies and more for Google+](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/fgmhgfecnmeljhchgcjlfldjiepcfpea) Chrome extension / [project](http://code.google.com/p/buzz-plus/) which was used as a template to wire-up the original scripts as modules of the Golden View for Google+ extension.

I would also like to thank my new and long-time friends with whom I hang out at Google+ (and in many cases, FriendFeed before that) who jump in with both feet to test and give critical feedback on my humble but _obviously_ spectacular little apps. You know who you are. :)
