Flash URL (tm) is a flash URL shortener application. A "flash URL" is a short URL that redirects to a destination Web site after a preset amount of time (e.g., 10 seconds). You can also include a personal message on the flash URL page. The mission of Flash URL shortening service is to help the user safely navigate the Web. We are advocates of safe web browsing. Flash URL's first release has just been deployed to http://mq.ms/. It still lacks many features which we'd like to add eventually (e.g., with respect to "safe Web browsing"), but it's fully functional as far as URL shortening is concerned (similar to goo.gl or bit.ly). It shortens any valid URL with a lightening speed. Give it a try and see for yourself. It can also shorten any link displayed on the page through context menus (e.g, right mouse button click on Windows). Just click on the menu item "Shorten link and copy" and paste it back to the address bar or anywhere. (Note that the extension currently does not offer the option to create custom short URLs.) Note 1: Flash URL shortener service does not require you to log in, and it keeps all data anonymous. Note 2: As for the permissions, Flash URL extension requires the least intrustive set of permissions among any URL shortener extensions you can find on Chrome Web Store (with comparable features).
