More About XBRL API Access

This Google Sheet Add-on lets users to establish connectivity via the XBRL API (https://xbrl.us/xbrl-api) and use a Google Sheet or other Google Service to request and return data from the XBRL US Public Database. Any and all use of this XBRL US API Authentication Add-on, as well as the use of data retrieved through the XBRL US API constitutes full consent and agreement with the Terms of Agreement listed at https://xbrl.us/api-key-request. XBRL Data Community participants (https://xbrl.us/xbrl-api-community) can submit Google Sheet templates to XBRL US.

The XBRL US Public Database is a demonstration of freely available structured financial data. It contains nearly 10 years of public company data submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), including US GAAP data from U.S. issuers, and IFRS data from foreign private issuers (now available since the SEC has approved the IFRS Taxonomy). In addition to corporate datasets, the XBRL US Public Database also contains details from the US GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy such as the metadata associated with individual concepts; and Data Quality Committee (DQC) error messages from historically submitted US GAAP filings.

Looking ahead, XBRL US will add more public company data from filers in other XBRL International jurisdictions like Japan, Denmark, the Netherlands, as well as collecting data from banks reporting to the FDIC, and mutual funds reporting to the SEC.
