More About Mobile Drug Guide

The Mobile Drug Guide provides patients, doctors, nurses, EMS personnel and other medical professionals with the ability to search for detailed information about drugs from the nation's prescription formulary by using the drug's name, NDC or in the case of a pill, its physical characteristics (i.e. color, shape, imprint and scoring). The Mobile Drug Guide provides consumer friendly as well as clinical information from reliable and trusted data sources. Consumer friendly information is provided by linking search results to drug information at MedlinePlus, clinical trials at ClinicalTrials.gov and to the clinical and brand names of interacting drugs provided by the Veterans Health Administration National Drug File – Reference Terminology (NDF-RT). Clinical information is provided by linking search results to Structured Product Labels (SPL) provided by DailyMed. Drug labeling and other information in the SPL is what has been submitted by drug companies to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as drug listing information (i.e. medication package inserts). The database of pill images is provided by the National Library of Medicine's Office of High Performance Computing and Communications (OHPCC).
