More About Formula Tracer
What do you do when someone shares a spreadsheet with you that has many formulas? You click on the cell with the result you're interested in, make note of the cells in the formula, then go to those cells and repeat the process (going back and forth to ranges throughout the tabs in the sheet - getting lost in the process) until you finally identify all the cells that feed into the cell(s) you really care about.
Formula Tracer's Find Precedents button does all that for you automatically. It will even identify formulas in referenced ranges. For a simple example, a cell has the formula, =sum(A1:B5). Find Precedents will look at all the cells in A1:B5, find the ones that have formulas, then show you where those formulas, in turn, come from.
The results are displayed as a cascading tree of cell addresses. You can click on each node of the tree and be taken directly to that cell in the sheet - no matter the tab. Hovering over a node will also show all the formulas for all the cells that feed into that cell.
We offer a free 5-day trial, so please give Formula Tracer a try now!
